Another pitching duel in a matinee game. Josh Johnson goes up against Johan Santanna. Both have excellent numbers against each other. The Mets and Marlins have been hit with a couple nagging injuries that might help these pitchers dominate even more. The Marlins best hitter, Hanley Ramirez, is still day to day with the wrist. Delgado and the surprising Luis Castillo also day to day and figure not to play today. Johnson has been dominant against the Mets as they are hitting just .158 vs. Johnson. Johnson's era is .63 (3.07) lower during the day than it is at night in the last 3 years and his 1.76era and 4-0 record vs. Mets is no joke. Santanna on the other hand has identical numbers as he is also 4-0 with a 1.86 era vs. the Marlins. His daytime era is .61 lower at (2.49) during the day in the last 3 years. He had a remarkable 2.24 era during day games last year. Santanna is going to come out with something extra this afternoon as he knows he has to because he lost despite giving up 0ER in 7IP and striking out 13K. It was his best start of the year and he got a loss. Look for this to be an afternoon duel.
