I like Shields in this match up as he's been outstanding on 5 days rest at home this year posting a 1.35 ERA. Over the last 3 years he also has posted a 2.67 ERA in the month of August over 17 starts. The Giants are 15-37 in their last 52 interleague road games vs. RH starter and they will put Tim Hudson to the mound who has to face an AL line up on the road something he's not used to as a NL pitcher. His only start in this scenario vs. the White Sox yielded an early exit after he allowed 12 hits and 7 ER over 4.2 IP. He's been extremely lucky this season and his raw stats do not impress me. I think there is some value to be had with the Royals on Saturday night.
