Maryland vs. Northwestern
Northwestern

Jack’s Free Pick Monday: Northwestern -1.5

Off three straight losses, including a huge blown lead to Michigan State last time out, the Northwestern Wildcats will be highly motivated for a victory at home tonight.  They are 11-4 at home this season and should handle their business against Maryland.

Adding to the motivation of the Wildcats is the fact that they just lost 57-73 at Maryland on February 10th just over a week ago.  They will be out for revenge in the rematch and should be able to get it against a Maryland team that has gone just 1-8 in true road games this season.  Their only road win this year came by a single point at Illinois by a final of 92-91 back in early December.

Northwestern is 14-4 ATS vs. teams who force 12 or fewer turnovers per game over the last three seasons.  The Wildcats are 12-3 ATS in home games vs. good shooting teams that make 45% of their shots or better over the last two years.  The Wildcats are a perfect 6-0 ATS off two or more consecutive losses over the last two seasons.  Bet Northwestern Monday.

Wild vs. Islanders

Scott "The Bulldog' Rickenbach NHL Game #1 Monday Free Pick Minnesota Wild Money Line (-) @ New York Islanders @ 1:05 ET - The Wild are off of back to back losses and are fired up and ready to go. Only once this entire season has Minnesota lost 3 straight games. In fact, the Wild are 8-1 (89%) this season when they enter a game on a losing streak of 2 games or more. After losing back to back games to Washington and Anaheim (each of the 2 teams that Wild head coach Bruce Boudreau used to coach) look for Minnesota to get back on track. They catch the Islanders at the right time to get back on track as New York is off of ultra rare back to back shutout wins. These are the first two shutouts of the entire season and the strong play between the pipes is certainly unlikely to continue. The Isles, before winning their most recent home game, had lost 6 of their last 8 games at home and allowed an average of 4.3 goals per game during this rough stretch. The road club is the hungrier club in this match-up and gets the win here. Free Pick MINNESOTA

Free Play from Doc’s Sports. Take #715 Oklahoma over Kansas (9p.m., Monday February 19 ESPN) the Jayhawks got a gift from the refs on Saturday and the whole country has taken note of the free throw disparity in that game. The will not be as fortunate tonight and we will gladly take the points with the team that has the best player on the floor. This is not a typical Kansas team and they just do not have the athletes that we are used to seeing from them. Oklahoma has not been playing well of late and will enter this game having lost five straight and need a couple of wins in their last four games to ensure that they make the NCAA Tournament. They will not get it here, but they will be able to keep it around 4-6 points. The underdog has covered the last 4 games in this match-up. Doc’s Sports has nailed three straight top plays over the last four days. Sign-up for a long term package and let our 46 years of experience take you through the Final Four.

Senators vs. Predators
Predators

I envision Nashville coach Peter Laviolette having his team fired up to stop a two-game home losing streak. So does the oddsmaker making the Predators a huge favorite. I'm not going to lay a price that high, but I will back Nashville on the puck line getting a plus price if the Predators should win by more than one goal - which I expect to happen.  The Senators enter this matchup fat and happy having won two in a row, including defeating the Rangers, 6-3, at home on Saturday.  Now the Senators take to the road where they have lost the past three times all by three goals.  Ottawa ranks 26th in scoring and gives up the third-most goals. The Senators have especially weak special teams. Ottawa ranks among the bottom-four in power play goals and penalty killing. Their poor special teams are just the antidote for the Predators to break out of their mini losing streak.  (Editor's note: Stephen Nover is well on his way to beating the NHL for a third straight season going 8-4 on his last 12 plays for 67 percent. Stephen has his strongest total of the week - and month so far - heading up his Monday NHL card.)

OVER

This is a 1* Free Play on the OVER between the LA Kings and the Chicago Blackhawks.

Both teams comes in off much needed victories and we expect them to carry that momentum over here. LA broke a three-game skid with a 4-2 win at Buffalo on Saturday, while Chicago snapped an eight-game slide with a resounding 7-1 victory over Washington. LA averages 2.8 GPG and it allows 2.5. Chicago averages 2.9 GPG and it allows 2.9 as well. Note that LA has seen the total go OVER in six of its last eight against clubs with losing records, while Chicago has seen the total go OVER in nine of 16 this year after scoring four goals or more in its previous contest. These are two teams hungry for a win and we expect that sense of desperation from each side to translate into production on the ice. Consider a second look at the OVER in this one.
