I'm recommending a play on the Phillies with Aaron Nola over Dan Straily (game-1 of the doubleheader).  Since June 21, the Phils are just 23-30. However, during the same stretch they're 7-4 when Nola toes the starting rubber, which shows just how effective he's been.  Nola held 10 straight opponents to 2 runs or less before a rough outing in SFO last time out.  I'm more of the belief it was an anomaly and not a sell sign.  The fact is, he was cruising along for the most part, before a bad 5th inning.  The righthander is back home tonight where the Phils have won each of his last three home starts and five of his last six.  Nola has allowed just 5 earned runs, 33 base runners, with 52 strikeouts in those six starts, spanning 42 1/3 IP.  That's a smoking-hot, 1.06 ERA, 0.78 WHIP, and 11.06 K's per 9 IP ratio.  Dan Straily has watched his team lose each of his last seven starts and he's receiving little help from his offense.  It's hard to imagine he'll get the likely required help tonight.  Straily isn't eating up innings, failing to pitch six full in all but one of his last seven starts. The righthander's numbers on the road have not been good since the start of the 2014 campaign and not much has changed this season where his ERA sits north of 4.6.  With a potential pitching mismatch on hand, we'll recommend a play on Aaron Nola and the Phillies on Tuesday (game-1).  Thanks & GL!  Scott Spreitzer.

I'm backing the underdog Texas Rangers on Monday with Cole Hamels over Tyler Skaggs.  The Angels have been playing well, winning nine of their last 11 and coming off a 7-2 successful road trip that began in Seattle and ended in Baltimore yesterday.  Tonight, without a day off, they suit-up against Cole Hamels, who has had little trouble with the Halos in his career.  Hamels has a 2.45 ERA in seven starts against LAA and he's slammed the door on Mike Trout and Andrelton Simmons, holding them to 5 of 41 at the plate.  Texas is 7-2 in Cole Hamels' starts since July 1.  The Angels counter with Tyler Skaggs, who has not enjoyed much success against the Rangers, saddled with a 5.46 ERA in six starts.  Texas has won eight of their last 11 and I believe they'll strike first in an important series in the AL wildcard race.  I'm recommending a play on the Rangers on Monday. Thanks & GL!  Scott Spreitzer.

Giants vs Browns

I'm backing the NY Giants on Monday night.  Whether the starters or second and third units are on the field, the G-Men have a distinct advantage on offense in tonight's contest.  Their interior offensive line is one of the most talented in the NFL, while the Browns are a mess on the interior defensive front.  Thanks to multiple reasons, including a couple of injuries, the Browns D-line will feature several young players throughout this one, making them susceptible all four quarters. That's just the start.  Cleveland's offensive line is also far from healthy, especially at OLT where the top-2 players are expected to miss Monday's game.  Rookie Rod Johnson is being thrown into the starting role and will likely have to play extended time at OLT.  We also note they're shallow at OLG.  Defensively, the Giants own one of the best backfields in the league and we believe the secondary, combined with the advantages up front, will prove too much for the potential rotation of Osweiler (starter), Kessler, Kizer, and Hogan. You don't always get potential trench advantages for an entire four quarters, but we feel we have close to that in this one and those advantages point to New York.  I'm backing the NY Giants, our Monday Showdown.  Thanks & GL!  Scott Spreitzer.
