Tonight's game is a mis match on the mound and I think the A's are a little aggravated after getting blown out at home yesterday. Look for the A's to make a come back here on Tuesday night when they send Trevor Cahill to the mound to face off against the Rangers McCarthy.

Cahill has had a lot of success against the Rangers in his first year with two quality starts and one bad one. He's got a career 2.70 ERA vs. the Rangers in 20 IP. His last start vs. the Rangers at home he gave up 5 ER. The runs were spread out throughout the come with 3 runs coming in the 5th through 7th innings. Michael Young and Josh Hamilton were huge in that game against Cahill and Young is actually 4-6 off Cahill. Both won't be in the lineup tonight making it a lot easier for Cahill to breathe here at home. Rangers have a .192 average against Cahill and I think he'll pitch around Jones and Byrd who are the only ones left in this lineup with success against him. Look for him to come up with a gem and for the Rangers to be going to their bullpen early.

McCarthy will go for the Rangers on the road and that usually means bad news as the Rangers are 3-8 when he starts on the road in his last 11. They are 2-8 in his last 10 as a dog. A's are 7-1 in their last 8 vs. RH starter and 7-1 following a loss. McCarthy has a 6.10 ERA on the road this year including a 1.65 WHIP. His career vs. the A's is not good as he's got a 10.05 ERA and the A's are a streaky team that hits when they hit. A's right now are scoring 5.68 runs per 9 innings in their last 10 vs. RHP and their bullpen has a 2.54 ERA over that period. Again major advantage to the home team in this situation with the better bullpen the better starting pitcher and tonight the better offense!
