The Red Sox are 52-17 in their last 69 with Lester on the mound on 4 days rest.  They are also 49-22 in his last 71 starts vs. a losing team while the Royals are 19-44 in their last 63 vs. LH starter.  Boston on the other hand is the #1 team vs. LHP with a .866 OPS while the Royals are 25th over .200 points behind with a .618 OPS.  Lester has solid numbers with a 2.79 ERA on the road and the Royals have just a .658 OPS in 70 career at bats.
 
Meanwhile the Red Sox vs. Chen have great numbers in 96 AB with a .292 average and a .856 OPS.  Chen has a 4.79 ERA at home this year nothing special and his last 3 starts vs. the Red Sox he’s given up 14 ER in just 11 innings while allowing 26 to reach base.  Lester vs. the Royals over his last 5 has a 0.76 ERA.  Royals just .235 average vs. LHP at home scoring 2.95 runs per 9 where they also have a 4.50 bullpen.  Red Sox on the road are hitting .274 6.41 runs per 9 and 3.46 bullpen ERA.  I love playing the Sox vs. a losing team off a loss.  They need a big performance from their starter and I think Lester is ready to give just that today.  Boston will score runs they are ranked in the top 10 for all of Bruce Chen’s pitches including 5th vs. his second pitch the slider.  The one thing that concerns me about Lester is his walks per 9 and he should have a better day with that facing the Royals who are 26th in BB’s this year.
