I can’t help but back the Royals here as Greinke has a 0.28 ERA in his last 4 starts vs. the Mariners and is pitching his best baseball of the year with an average of 8 IP in his last 4 starts.  His ERA isn’t flashy, but he gave up a 5 run 8th inning in his last game that could have been avoided and something I don’t see happening against a team he has absolutely dominated and a team like the Mariners that has struggled to hit all year long.
 
Seattle has a .238 average in their last 10 vs. RHP, while the Royals are at .288 vs. LHP and have a better bullpen ERA over that time period with 2.42 compared to 3.64.  Ryan Rowland Smith goes for the Mariners and he’s 0-6 with a 7.78 ERA in his night starts this year.  He’s got 3 career starts vs. the royals in the last three years and owns a 6.14 ERA against them.  Seattle has just a .135 average in 96 AB vs. Greinke and I think he’s going to throw another magical game.

I can’t help but add this play in as it reminds me of the above play as Jered Weaver has a career 0.52 ERA vs. the White Sox.  Now the Sox have been hot, but they run into a tough starter in my opinion in Weaver and that’s why it’s a play for me as they have lost every time they’ve gone up against him.  They’ll start Peavy who is started to come around, but has more to do with the fact that he’s faced 3 National League teams in June.  In his start against the Angels earlier this year he gave up 10 runners on base and 6 ER in 6 IP.  LA is 12-4 in their last 16 road games and 10-3 when Weaver is a favorite.
