Where is this idea that the Yankees can't hit lefties? The media probably when they went 0-9 down the stretch vs. south paws. But this is the post season and I'm going to tell you some facts that many of you probably don't realize. The idea comes from the Yankees having a heavy lefty hitting line up, but they match up perfectly with CJ Wilson who I love in most situations but not here! Wilson led the AL in walks and the Yankees are extremely patient team. Also Yankees just beat a pair of lefties in Brian Duensing and Liriano as they only went 9 IP combined giving up 9 ER 13 hits and 4 walks. Yankees actually have better stats vs. LHP this year overall, at home and in their last 10 games here is how it breaks down.

Last 10 games Yankees .328 6.46 runs per 9 innings vs. LHP. Away = .267 and 5.14 runs per 9 that's +.70 runs per 9 compared to RHP. Overall they hit LHP .269 with 5.67 runs per 9 that's compared to .267 and 5.29 vs. RHP.. So technically despite how many lefties and their record down the stretch you would say they'd prefer to hit lefties. They faced CJ Wilson on the road twice so they have experience with that this year where as the Rangers haven't faced Sabathia since April where they managed only 3 hits.. more on Sabathia in a moment. Wilson in his two home starts vs. the Yankees had two bad starts. He went 8.1 IP gave up 11 hits 6 ER and 6BB to the Yanks.. This won't fly in the post season as the Yankees have 121 AB mostly in his time as a closer which is much more difficult for Yankees so these numbers are not as good as they sound. 121 AB .248 average and a .728 OPS. He walks far too many guys 9 this year in three starts vs. the Yankees while giving up 18 hits in 14.1 IP. Just think the media did us a favor other wise the Yankees would be favored at -200 or something.

Sabathia has owned the Rangers and the current line up have only 160 AB with a .188 average and .537 OPS. Texas is -.66 runs per 9 and -.13 in average vs. LHP vs. RHP. Also note that the Yankee bullpen on the road was 2.84 if this is a close game in the end the Yankees bullpen has the advantage. They were dominant in the first round while the Texas bullpen had a 6.11 ERA and blew a game. I trust the Yankees with their experience in this game big time.
