Take Angels -1.5 @ +105 4-Dime POD
Going with the Angels here today as our POD. Every win by the Angels over the A's this year has been by 1+ run and from the last time these two met the Oakland offense looks completely different without Holliday/Cabrera. That should not really bother Santanna who has started to pitch really well and should continue here tonight as he matches up against Trevor Cahill.

Santanna has been nothing but dominant over the A's in his career in his last 10 starts the Angels are 8-2 winning all 8 by 1+ runs. He has just 1 start against them this year back in the middle of July where he went 8 IP gave up 3H 2BB and 1 ER off a HR by Holliday who is no longer with the A's. What is so impressive about this start for me is it came in the middle of Santana's true pitching troubles this year. In the previous 2 starts he went 9IP 11 ER and the 3 starts following his performance against the A's he went 15.2 IP giving up 16 ER. So you can just see the dominance he has over the A's who collectively have a .195 average and that is including Eric Chavez .320 average who is on the DL. It honestly should be smooth costing for him today as the A's are hitting just .245 and scoring 3.04 runs per 9 vs. RHP. Angels are 5-0 in Santana's last 5 starts and in his last three he has a sub 3.00 ERA.

Trevor Cahill will make a 3rd start against the A's and it was not pretty the last time although the A's did win both of his starts this year. Cahill made his 1st start against the Angels where he went 5IP gave up 5H and 5BB in the game with only 2 ER. Note that Cahill did not have much of a scouting report, but by the 2nd and 3rd time through the lineup he started to struggle with the Angels. In his next start he did not get to the 5th inning. Although he did not lose the game and he only gave up 3 ER he had 6H against with 4BB and this was all without Tori Hunter and Vlad for the Angels in the lineup. Angels on that day left 10 runners on base and they were 1-6 with runners in scoring position. Very unlike the Angels, but they are healthy now with Hunter and Vlad not injured any longer and I think they will get it done here at home with a solid pitcher on the rubber for them.

Some trends you'll want to take note of are:
Oakland has lost 11 of their last 12 road losses by 1+ and on the season they have lost 81.6% of their road losses by more than 1 run. Oakland is 0-4 in their last 4 road games with Cahill on the mound as a dog. While the Angels are 10-3 in their last 13 home vs. a team with a losing record and 8-3 in their last 11 vs. RH starter.
