News: Tebow Saves Best For Last In Comeback Win At Miami
With former Florida Gators’ head coach Urban Meyer watching from the sidelines, Tim Tebow made his first start of the NFL season a memorable one in the Denver Broncos’ 18-15 overtime victory against the Miami Dolphins on Sunday. After struggling through the first three quarters, Tebow led the Broncos with consecutive touchdown passes in the final 2:44 of regulation and punched in a two-point conversion on a QB draw in the dying seconds to force overtime tied at 15. The Denver defense would force a fumble in overtime to get the ball back and allow Matt Prater to kick the 52-yard game-winning field goal after missing a pair earlier in the game, as the legend of Tebow continues to grow. While Tebow stole the week seven headlines, Plaxico Burress’ breakout performance for the New York Jets in a 27-21 win over the San Diego Chargers drifted under the radar even though the receiver caught three touchdown passes. Meanwhile, Carson Palmer’s debut with the Oakland Raiders didn’t go exactly how the fans out west had thought it would, with their new quarterback completing less than 50-percent of his passes and throwing three interceptions in a 28-0 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.
Betting News: World Series Down To Best Of Three After Rangers Win
After splitting the first four games, the Texas Rangers and St. Louis Cardinals have reduced the World Series to a best-of-three, with the National League Champions now guaranteed to end the series in front of their home fans. After one final duel between the respective staff aces on Monday, the teams will take a day off as they travel from Arlington back to St. Louis, where the cold weather awaits back at Busch Stadium. After combining to score just eight runs through the first two games, both offenses looked better overall in Texas where the warm weather made for favorable hitting conditions. Colby Lewis will get the start for the Rangers in game six on Wednesday against Jaime Garcia, while Matt Harrison is scheduled to go against Kyle Lohse in game seven if necessary.
NHL : Coyotes Rally On The Road At Anaheim Sunday
In the lone NHL game on the night, the Phoenix Coyotes rallied to end a two-game slide with a 5-4 win over the Anaheim Ducks to get back to .500. The Coyotes will return home on Tuesday for the first of three straight at home, as they welcome the Dallas Stars to the Jobing.com Arena. Phoenix made a move earlier in the day, sending Petteri Nokelainen and Garrett Stafford to the Montreal Canadiens for Brock Trotter and a seventh-round pick. While Trotter may not play for the Coyotes this season, Nokelainen is expected to be in the lineup for Montreal this week as they look to bounce back following a 1-4-2 start to the season.
NASCAR News: Bowyer Passes Burton Late For Win At Talladega
With time running down, Clint Bowyer made his move to pull ahead of teammate Jeff Burton on the final lap, beating him to the finish line to win at Talladega Superspeedway. While RCR had a strong showing, Hendrick Motorsports had a rough day with five-time defending champion Jimmie Johnson finishing 26th as he and partner Dale Earnhardt Jr. never made a push, even though they won the race here earlier in the year. Johnson now sits seventh in the Sprint Cup Series standings, 50 points back of leader Carl Edwards with just four races to go.
