Sports Betting – A Look At Thursday’s Wagering Ticket

Postby Freddy Wills » Wed Oct 12, 2011 5:44 pm

fans and betting players get a trio of games to check out on Thursday night as they head to their sportsbooks, but they’ll have to share the ticket with some MLB playoff action as well as a Pac-12 rivalry in college football.

MLB Betting

Rangers Tigers Odds (4:19 PM ET): Game 5 goes off on Thursday in Detroit, where the Tigers will turn to their ace, Justin Verlander, in their last home game of the season. The Rangers counter with C.J. Wilson, and neither starter lasted until the fifth inning of a 3-2 win for Texas in Game 1. Look for both to have their edge back in this crucial contest, but will probably favor Verlander and the Tigers.

Brewers Cardinals Odds (8:05 PM ET): In the nightcap, Randy Wolf will get the call for the Brewers in Game 4 of the NLCS, while the Cardinals will go with Kyle Lohse. Again, expect the home team to be favored by your in this clash of division rivals.

NCAA Football Odds

USC California Odds (9:00 PM ET): The Trojans are favored by a field goal in this Pac-12 clash in San Francisco, the temporary home of the Golden Bears, who have dropped two in a row. USC is 4-1, but they’re not winning games convincing, although you have to give head coach Lane Kiffin a little credit for keeping the ship afloat amidst NCAA violations. The Golden Bears are 2-6 SU and 3-5 ATS in their last eight at home against the Trojans, but they’re in a new venue and they’re closer in talent to USC, so anything is possible here.

NHL Odds

Capitals Penguins Odds (7:00 PM ET): The line will be close for this game will be close as these rivals don’t give an inch when they’re on the ice. There will be a lot of star power on the ice, but look for much of the storyline to include injured Penguin Sidney Crosby, who has been out since January after being taken out by the Capitals.

Canucks Red Wings Odds (8:00 PM ET): These are two of the teams to beat in the Western Conference, but the Red Wings should be favored at home on Thursday night against the Canucks, who are looking to get back to the Stanley Cup finals.

Jets Blackhawks Odds (8:30 PM ET): Finally, the Jets will be huge underdogs when they head to Chicago, whose captain, Jonathan Toews is from Winnipeg. The Jets got romped 5-1 at home by Montreal in their return to the NHL, and you shouldn’t set your expectations too high in terms of their chances this season.
