Betting News: Patriots Throttle Jets; Broncos Improve Under Tebow

On the heels of consecutive losses, the New England Patriots bounced back in a major way on Sunday Night Football, grounding the New York Jets in a 37-16 road win. Tom Brady threw for 329 yards and three touchdowns against the Jets’ defense, with Rob Gronkowski as his main target, recording 113 yards receiving and two of those scores. While New England made a statement with the win, they weren’t the only team to win on the road this past Sunday, and certainly not the most unlikely winner. Despite completing just two passes, Tim Tebow led the Denver Broncos to a 17-10 win over the Kansas City Chiefs, and is now 3-1 as the starter this season. Meanwhile, John Skelton helped rally the Arizona Cardinals late for a 21-17 comeback win over the Philadelphia Eagles that sent the losers to 3-6 on the season. Meanwhile, the winless season watch continues for the Indianapolis Colts after a 17-3 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars moved them to 0-10, while the New Orleans Saints overcame a tough test from the Atlanta Falcons in a 26-23 overtime win.

NHL News: Miller Suffers Concussion; Out Indefinitely

The Buffalo Sabres took another hit on Sunday when they found out the goaltender Ryan Miller will be out indefinitely with a concussion. Miller was leveled by Boston Bruins’ forward Milan Lucic in a 6-2 loss Saturday night, and did not play in the third period, while Lucic was only given a two-minute penalty for charging. Jhonas Enroth is expected to start for Buffalo this week, while Drew MacIntyre was called up from the AHL to back him up.

NCAAF News: Ducks, Sooners Move In To Top-Five

While the top-three remains the same with the No. 1 LSU Tigers, No. 2 Oklahoma State Cowboys, and No. 3 Alabama Crimson Tide each holding down their spots with wins this past weekend, they have some new company in the top-five with the arrival of the No. 4 Oregon Ducks and No. 5 Oklahoma Sooners. The Ducks defeated the PAC-12 rival and then-No. 4 Stanford Cardinal in a conference showdown to move up to four, while the Sooners remained undefeated and were able to take the spot opened up by a Boise State loss.

NBA News: NBPA Expected To Reject Latest Proposal

In the ongoing NBA labor negotiations saga, it seems as though the little progress that has been made between the owners and players over the past week has hit another snag. The NBPA told the owners it would take the weekend to consider its most recent contract proposal, but in light of the unlimited escrow system that the owners have proposed, which is tied to issues regarded the BRI, the players are expected to tell the owners on Monday the deal will not work. How this is received by the owners and where they will proceed from there will be an interesting matter, and there is no denying that it is likely more games will be cancelled in the near future.
