News: Packers’ Run At Perfection Comes To Sudden Halt At KC

After watching the previously-undefeated Green Bay Packers and Tim Tebow-led Denver Broncos dominate the headlines the past several weeks as they came through with big wins on the field, NFL fans watched both back in their usual spots in the headlines this week, only for all the wrong reasons. The Packers’ run at an undefeated season came to a sudden halt on the road against the Kansas City Chiefs in a 19-14 loss, after trailing when heading in to the fourth quarter for the first time in 20 games. Meanwhile, Tebow could do nothing to stop the Patriots’ offense as they torched the Broncos for 41 points in a 41-23 win at the Mile High. Fortunately for Denver, a late collapse by the Oakland Raiders against the Detroit Lions in a 28-27 final allowed the Broncos to maintain position at the top of the AFC West, although the San Diego Chargers made some ground with a 34-14 win over the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday Night Football. The Chicago Bears were thrashed by the Seattle Seahawks at home 38-14, while the New York Giants couldn’t survive a tough test from the Washington Redskins in a 23-10 loss, leaving the Dallas Cowboys with a half-game lead in the NFC Wild Card race following their win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday.

Betting News: Quenneville Gets No. 600; Versteeg Pushes Panthers Through In OT

In a game that was never really in doubt from the beginning through the end, the Chicago Blackhawks doused the Calgary Flames 4-2 to earn head coach Joel Quenneville his 600th career win. Quenneville became the 10th coach in NHL history to hit that mark as Chicago moved past the Minnesota Wild for first in the Western conference standings, with Ray Emery making 22 saves as he continues to get more ice time ahead of former starter Corey Crawford in goal. Meanwhile, the Florida Panthers found a way to win as Kris Versteeg netted the game-winning goal in overtime to help them pad their lead in the Southeast division, as one of the biggest surprises early on this season.

NCAAB News: Oral Roberts Hands Xavier Their First Loss

With Tu Holloway, Mark Lyons, and Dez Wall watching from the sidelines, the No. 9 ranked Xavier Musketeers suffered their first loss of the season in brutal fashion on Sunday in a 64-42 loss to Oral Roberts. Dominated from the outset, all that the Xavier players could do was watch following their suspension from a brawl against Cincinnati last weekend.

NBA News: Knicks Close To Signing Baron Davis

The New York Knicks are reportedly close to signing Baron Davis according to source, as the veteran point guard flew out to the city Sunday night to ink a new deal, after clearing waivers as part of the new amnesty deal on Friday. The former All Star will reportedly be sidelined with a back injury for the next several weeks, but if he can return to form could be a key cog in the team’s plans going forward.
