Betting News: Tebow, Broncos Lose; Still Clinch Top Spot In AFC West

When it comes to Tim Tebow and the Denver Broncos, there is no doubt that there is an aura surrounding the team and everything they have done this season. That aura was taken to a new level on Sunday, when despite suffering their third straight loss to close out the season, and second in as many games against sub-.500 teams, the Broncos still managed to lock up the top seed in the AFC West and a trip to the playoffs. Denver managed to score just a field goal against the division-rival Kansas City Chiefs in a 7-3 loss, but with the Oakland Raiders losing to the San Diego Chargers 38-26 at home, they managed to squeeze in to the postseason. It won’t get any easier for the Broncos now that they have made it, as they get set to meet the Pittsburgh Steelers in the opening round. Meanwhile, despite losing to the Baltimore Ravens and falling to 0-4 against the top two teams in the AFC North, the Cincinnati Bengals clinched the final AFC wild card spot and will travel south to take on the Houston Texans next week, while in the NFC the New York Giants locked up the NFC East with a 31-14 home win over the Dallas Cowboys the eliminated their division rivals.

NBA News: Cousins Banished From Kings After Trade Demand

On a day where Kevin Love and the Minnesota Timberwolves knocked off Dirk Nowitzki and the defending NBA champion Dallas Mavericks, the most surprising news in the Western conference actually came from the Sacramento Kings, when it was learned that center DeMarcus Cousins would be banned from the team. The Kings had expected big things from Cousins heading in to his sophomore season, but apparently unwilling to buy in to the team concept and help turn things around, head coach Paul Westphal made the decision to banish him from the team going forward, and has been told to stay home.

NHL News: Predators Claw Past Flames In Lone Sunday Contest

Sergei Kostitsyn’s first career hat trick helped spark the Nashville Predators to a 5-3 win over the Calgary Flames in the lone NHL game on Sunday. Kostitsyn scored three goals on as many shots, scoring a goal in every period to ruin the party for the Flames’ Jarome Iginla, who scored his 499th career goal in the second period.

NCAAF News: Colts Clinch Luck Sweepstakes Bid

When it comes to looking forward to the next NFL draft, two key stories broke on Sunday that will have major repercussions on that event. First, the Indianapolis Colts lost to the Jacksonville Jaguars to secure the worst record in the league, and therefore will have the first shot to draft Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck. Second, Heisman trophy winner Robert Griffin III has decided to enter the draft, and is projected to be a strong consolation prize for those that miss out on Luck.
