Betting News: Red Wings Tie Historic Mark With 20th Straight Home Win

The Detroit Red Wings tied an NHL record with their 20th straight home win on Sunday night, coming back to beat the Philadelphia Flyers 4-3 in a game that had four lead changes. The Red Wings looked vulnerable at times throughout the game with Joey MacDonald between the pipes instead of the injured Jimmy Howard, but in the end Detroit prevailed with Johan Franzen’s goal less than a minute in to the third period holding up as the eventual game-winner. With the win, Detroit is now four points up on the Vancouver Canucks for first place in the Western conference, and they will shoot for sole possession of the record on Wednesday when they host the Dallas Stars. The Red Wings didn’t gain any ground on the streaking St. Louis Blues, which continued their surprising play with a 3-0 win over the San Jose Sharks, while the New York Rangers continued to build their lead for top spot in the Eastern conference with a 3-2 win over the Washington Capitals.

NBA News: Celtics Take Advantage Of Rose-Less Bulls Sunday

The Boston Celtics’ recent run continued Sunday as they took advantage of a Chicago Bulls’ team that was missing reigning MVP Derrick Rose. Rose continued to sit out as he makes plans to see a back specialist, and in his absence the Bulls were victimized by a Rajon Rondo triple-double that included 32 points, 10 rebounds, and 15 assists. With the win, Boston moved within 1.5 games of the Orlando Magic for sixth spot in the standings, while Chicago’s lead in the East was reduced to one with a loss and a 107-87 win for the Miami Heat over the Atlanta Hawks. Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Lakers held on for a two-point road win over the Toronto Raptors despite a game-high 30 points and six assists for Jose Calderon, and Golden State Warriors’ guard Monta Ellis went off for 33 points and seven assists in a 106-97 win over the Houston Rockets.

News: Hoyas Bounce Back With Big Win In Big East

Four days after being dealt a tough overtime loss against the No. 2 Syracuse Orange, the No. 11 Georgetown Hoyas bounced back with a 71-61 win over the St. John’s Red Storm on Sunday. The Hoyas had five scorers reach double digits as they never trailed in the game against a Red Storm team that became the first to lose 10 games to top-25 teams this season. Meanwhile, the No. 25 Michigan Wolverines extended their perfect record at home with a 70-61 win over the Illinois Fighting Illini, with Tim Hardaway Jr. leading the way with 15 points.

Golf News: Mickelson The Latest To Pull Off Comeback Victory

The latest sports betting trend continued when it came to this past weekend’s PGA event, as Phil Mickelson rallied from six shots behind to win for the fourth time at Pebble Beach, marking the third straight PGA Tour event in which the winner has come from at least six strokes behind in the final round to win. Mickelson closed with an eight-under-64, beating out rival Tiger Woods by 11 shots in what was hyped up as the biggest showdown of the weekend in the Pebble Beach National Pro-Am. Mickelson’s surge came as the final round leader Charlie Wi began to fall apart, and with Woods really struggling after closing the gap to just one stroke on the sixth hole. Mickelson deserves all of the credit for a phenomenal day in golf, and the PGA continues to teach us that no event is over until after the final round.
