St Mary’s goes on the road and they can win the outright WCC title tonight for the first time in 12 years Gonzaga may not be the perennial conference winner.  For 11 straight years, but it won’t be easy obviously Gonzaga hosting St. Mary’s a ranked team after they blew them out of their own building.  What I like about this game is St. Mary’s has been here before against similar competition in BYU (who beat Gonzaga in revenge on their home court).  I just think they are a tougher team than Gonzaga and St. Mary’s had two similar 20 point victories over BYU at home and then later on the road when BYU had the revenge angle.  Gonzaga is in a tough spot with all the pressure while St Mary’s really has nothing to lose because they can still win the conference title if they do lose, but I don’t think they will.  The last match up was evident that they are able to contain 7 footer Robert Sacre (4points 3 rebounds.)  If there is a team better at rebounding the ball it’s St. Mary’s 36-33 advantage in the first match up they are 4th in rebound% in the nation while Gonzaga is 18th.  This team still can hold a significant edge in their road games.  St. Mary’s Dellavedova will be the key for the Gonzaga defense, but he’s averaged 23.7 ppg in his last 3 vs. the Zags.  St. Mary’s will have the lead throughout.  I expect Gonzaga to put a scare in St. Mary’s, but it will be St. Mary’s night.
