4** MLB play of the day guaranteed
As +101 4* pod
Oakland A’s +101 4* MLB POD
The Oakland A’s slowed down a bit yesterday and could not pull off the sweep of the Toronto Blue Jays, but that does not mean they are done hitting and winning. They face another lefty in Zach Britton making just his 3rd start and thus far he has not been impressive as he’s walking more guys than he’s striking out with 5.40 K/9 and 7.20 BB/9. He pretty much has two pitches with 91% of his pitches coming from a fastball or slider which makes it really easy for an A’s team to stay hot as they are 6th in the league in BB’s and will work there way into good counts. The A’s are scoring 4.86 runs per 9 vs. LHP on the road this year and 7.94 with a .270 average over their last 10 games overall.
Baltimore on the other hand has struggled losing 9 of 12 at home scoring just 3.3 runs per game. Matt Wieters is in the midst of a 1-30 skid and they’ll face Jarrod Parker for the first time who has a 3-0 record and a 2.25 ERA on the road this year with a 19:5 K/BB ratio. Baltimore is 25th with a .691 OPS vs. RHP and they are scoring 4.30 runs per 9 vs. RHP at home which is -.56 compared with Oakland’s road success vs. LHP. Over their last 10 they are scoring just 4.17 and they are 28th in the month of July with a .643 OPS while Oakland is 11th with a .765. Baltimore is now 3-8 in their last 11 home games vs. a RH starter and 26-63 in their last 89 vs. the A’s. Britton had 2 starts vs. the A’s in 2011 allowing 7 ER over 12 innings with 19 base runners for a 5.25 ERA and a 1.58 WHIP.
