Tuesday's POD
Interesting line movement that makes sense in only one way to me. The Red Sox opened up as -127 favorites to the Nationals and 92% according to my source of 42 sportsbooks has the public on them. Seems like a no brainer considering the Nationals 12-23 home record. Yet the line moved the other way to -120 on the Nationals. Now I'm not saying that the Nationals are going to win, but I think we can expect a nice pitching match up between Penny and Lannan.

Lannan the LHP has been on fire he is 2-0 with 23.1IP 0.81WHIP and a 1.16 ERA in his last three starts. The bullpen has also pitched well for the Nats in their last 5 games where they have won 4 of 5 @ 2.04ERA. He almost went a complete game against the Yankees last time out 8.1IP 2ER until Damon hit a homer in the last inning and they relieved him. He pitches well here at home 1.72ERA in 7GS compared to 5.40ERA road. His night ERA 2.78 is also much better than the day 6.43. Red Sox should struggle a bit as they have never faced Lannan before.

Penny on the other side has also been pitching well 1-1 L3 with a 1.38WHIP and a 2.70 ERA. The bullpen continues to be consistent 3.31ERA. Penny should have no problem with the Nats who are hitting .234 3.28R/9 in their last 5 games vs. RHP.

Worth Noting:
Washington is under 21-5 last 26 games on grass, 14-3 last 17 @home. Under is 10-1-1 in Lannan's last 12 starts vs. a team with a winning record. Boston under 23-9-5 last 37 games following an off day.
