Sports Betting – A Look At Thursday’s Slate

Postby Freddy Wills » Wed Jul 27, 2011 3:17 pm

players should still have time to play a few hands around Thursday’s sports betting schedule as the weekend approaches in the major leagues, while the PGA Tour makes its next stop in West Virginia, where a 59 was needed to win last year’s inaugural tournament.

MLB Betting

Mets Reds Odds (12:35 PM ET): The Reds will send out young Homer Bailey to face off against Chris Capuano and the Mets, who figure to be busy as we get closer to the deadline on Sunday.

Angels Tigers Odds (1:05 PM ET): A pair of America League contenders clash in the Motor City as Brad Penny and the Tigers take on Joel Piniero and the Angels in a matinee matchup.

Royals Red Sox Odds (1:35 PM ET): Boston’s Josh Beckett is a Cy Young candidate, but he’ll need to pick up the pace down the stretch and on Thursday, he’ll take on Kansas City’s Luke Hochevar.

Cubs Brewers Odds (2:10 PM ET): National League Central rivals meet in Milwaukee, as Shaun Marcum leads the Brewers out against Randy Wells and the Cubs.

Rays Athletics Odds (3:35 PM ET): The Rays continue their West Coast trip in Oakland, where they will have Wade Davis on the mound to take on the Athletics’ Rich Harden, who is still working out the kinks after another stint on the disabled list.

Pirates Braves Odds (7:10 PM ET): These two had a wildly controversial 19-inning marathon on Tuesday, and the series will wrap in Atlanta with Pittsburgh’s Kevin Correia taking on Atlanta’s Kevin Lowe.

Twins Rangers Odds (8:05 PM ET): The Rangers will give the ball to Matt Harrison in their series finale with the Twins, who will send out veteran Scott Baker.

Astros Cardinals Odds (8:15 PM ET): Finally, the Cardinals, who made some big moves on Wednesday to bolster their team, will have Jaime Garcia on the mound to take on Houston’s Wandy Rodriguez.

Golf Betting

The Greenbrier Classic (7:00 PM ET): You should receive a if someone shoots another 59 like Stuart Appleby did in the final round of last year’s Greenbrier Classic, but the course (the Greenbrier, formerly known as the Old White TPC) should play much more difficult than 2010. Phil Mickelson leads the field in West Virginia, but players like Ricky Barnes, Charles Howell III and others will mount a challenge as the PGA Tour heads into the stretch run towards the FedEx Cup, golf’s version of the playoffs. Expect at least one low round to be had at the Greenbrier, and whoever shoots it will be a frontrunner in your book.
